Also called “Air University,” CCAF is a renowned school dedicated to providing students with various skills, experiences, and information for future careers and success.

Community College of the Air Force Programs

Established in 1946, Air University has provided students with access to associate degrees and training to employ, command, and/or research tasks in the air, space, and cyberspace at various professional levels. As Air University explains, its curriculum includes training in management, technological development, and scientific understanding – giving students a well-rounded education for their future careers.

This video explains why the Community College of the Air Force degree is important not only to your military career but also to your education in the civilian world.

What is the Purpose of the Community College of the Air Force?

According to Air University, “As an institution of higher learning, the Community College of the Air Force has a stake in the job knowledge and performance of every enlisted person in the Air Force. The contributions made to this nation are dependent on our intellectual growth.” By providing students with an array of subject areas and courses for study, CCAF focuses on the goal of giving students a stellar education that will help them prepare for the future.

Adding to this, since the United States Air Force focuses on recognizing the positive effects of education on Air Force servicemen and women, CCAF has established various programs to prepare students for service in the Air Force and the greater society as a whole. In fact, the CCAF is the only two-year educational institution that is dedicated to serving only enlisted military personnel. With various accreditations, CCAF has become one of the top schools for students interested in service and scientific studies.

Who Attends the Community College of the Air Force?

All airmen and airwomen are welcome to attend CCAF; the college is also operated by Air Force personnel. For example, the Air Force states, “Base Education counselors serve as academic advisors for CCAF students and are the primary means of communication between CCAF and Air Force enlisted personnel.”

As one of the top professional military schools in the country, the Air University is based at the Maxwell Air Force Base, located in Alabama. However, there are no geographical limitations to earning a degree through CCAF, as academic credit can be obtained through duty stations, technical schools, and college campuses worldwide.

Individuals can study various subject areas and pathways, as each degree program available at CCAF is designed to provide students with theoretical, performance, and technical background experience.

Furthermore, as their mission statement reveals, CCAF focuses on providing job-related associate or applied science degrees while also providing additional “academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, contribute to recruiting, assist in retention and support the career transitions of Air Force enlisted members.”

Their program, according to CCAF, also focuses on three core values: “Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.” Adding to this, “Air University’s mission is to provide the full spectrum of Air Force education, from pre-commissioning to all levels of professional military education, including degree granting and professional continuing education for officers, enlisted and civilian personnel throughout their careers.”
