- The college was founded in 1969 as the Ohio Diesel Mechanics School. In 1974 the school changed their name to Ohio Diesel Technical Institute and moved to an even larger facility in the heart of industrial Cleveland. In 1994, a new Associate Degree Program was developed and approved. The Associate of Technical Studies in Automotive and Diesel, in addition to providing graduates with the technical skill and expertise that the school is noted for. In 1995, due to the addition of this new program and degree granting ability, Ohio Auto Diesel Technical Institute changed its name to Ohio Auto Diesel Technical College. In 2005, OTC improved its program offerings yet again to offer the Complete Automotive Technology program.
- Housed in the former White Motors Corporation Service Garage and located in the heart of the transportation center of Cleveland, Ohio, OTC encompasses a half million square feet in total area. Our training center is designed to provide a perfect blend of classroom space and workshop area.
- The shop area has an enviable inventory of equipment, which is available at all times to the students. Further, our fleet of automobiles consists of over 50 late model cars and over 45 additional modern gasoline engines that are always on hand for shop use. Additional automotive inventory includes manual and automatic transaxles, electronic transmissions, microprocessors, turbochargers, feedback carburetors, fuel injection systems, distributorless ignition systems and all other components necessary to train students for this rapidly changing field.
- Ohio Technical College offers more than 25 programs in automotive training, motorcycle training, diesel equipment training, auto body training, classic car restoration training, high performance and racing training, alternative fuel training, and BMW training.
- Accredited by ACCSCT, OTC is dedicated to providing premier training to prepare students for challenging and rewarding careers in modern technologies. This is accomplished by pursuing industry alliances, providing outstanding training equipment and focusing on the needs of individual students. Ohio Technical College is positioned to be on the cutting edge of future technology and deliver the necessary technical and career skills to its students.
