With tuition significantly less than four-year colleges, along with our average class size of 10-18 students per class, you will essentially receive a private school education at a public school price! Furthermore, high school students in our service area can dual enroll and take college courses for free. Also, tuition assistance and financial aid is available! Sixty percent of our curriculum students receive some type of financial assistance for college.

  • Currently, including all diploma, certificate and associate's degree curricula as well as concentrations, instruction is provided in more than 70 programs of study. More than 2,000 students enroll annually in credit courses, and more than 5,500 participate in a wide variety of courses, workshops and seminars offered through Continuing Education.
  • Southwestern Community College is one of 59 institutions operating in the North Carolina Community College System, a statewide organization of public, two-year, post-secondary educational institutions. Southwestern is made up of two campuses in Sylva and Franklin, NC, as well as four educational centers in Bryson City, Cashiers, Cherokee, and Franklin. Our largest campus, the Jackson campus, is located on a 57-acre tract of land on North Carolina Highway 116 between Webster and Sylva, the Southwestern Community College Jackson Campus consists of seven buildings, totaling 194,728 square feet, including a Library.

    The event will include booths and activities related to important health issues in the community such as H1N1, breast cancer, and anaphylaxis. There will be hypertension checks, blood glucose checks, and a Red Cross blood drive.

  • ECU dental school names service sites (The Daily Reflector)

    Citizens around Elizabeth City, Ahoskie and Sylva soon will have better access to dental care. East Carolina University officials announced Monday that the ECU dental school will open community service learning centers in those three North Carolina towns.
