School Notes:
- The School of Nursing founded in 1895, was called the College Training School. It was a twenty-four month hospital-based program under the direction of the County Hospital and the College of Medicine of the University of Southern California. The training program shifted from the College of Medicine to the County Hospital and was officially approved by the County Board of Supervisors in 1901 and titled the Los Angeles County Hospital College of Nursing. With the re-titling of the hospital as the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center in 1968, the School was renamed the Los Angeles County Medical Center School of Nursing.
- The name, the Los Angeles County Medical Center School of Nursing, was retained when the college was granted initial accreditation status by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges in 1995 and was authorized to grant Associate Degrees. In 1998 the Board of Supervisors approved renaming the institution the Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health to reflect its expanded educational role.
- The School has a main campus at the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center and a satellite campus at Olive View - UCLA Medical Center, Sylmar.
- The Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health offers a two-year hospital based Associate Degree Nursing program. Classes are admitted in the Fall and Spring. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become registered nurses. The College is located on the premises of the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center and utilizes its wide range of clinical facilities within the County and community areas.
- The College is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The College is authorized as a Junior College to grant 2 year academic degrees. The School of Nursing is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
