School Notes:

  • Midland College is one of only three community colleges in Texas approved to offer a bachelor's degree. The new Bachelor of Applied Technology-Technology Management degree is designed to broaden career opportunities for students and better their chances for promotion to supervisory positions. Midland College remains committed to its mission by offering a variety of programs to more than 6,000 students who enroll each semester. MC offers unique programs in Health Sciences, Legal Assistant, Information Technology, and Aviation, including a Professional Pilot Training program. Academic partnerships with universities, such as Texas Tech, Sul Ross, Lubbock Christian University, Angelo State University and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, reinforces that MC students can easily transfer to all four-year schools – and, in some cases, even stay in Midland to finish a bachelor's degree from one of these schools.
  • Midland College is a level II (four-year) institution, accredited to offer a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) degree with four career options. MC also offers 50+ associate degrees and 50+ certificate options. Additionally the college offers an Internet-based Distance Learning program, general Continuing Education, Health Science Continuing Education, Petroleum Professional Development Training, Workforce Training, Concurrent High School programs, Adult Basic Education, Kids' College, and College Classics (classes for Senior Citizens). In addition to MC's BAT degree, students can earn other upper-level degrees right on the Midland College campus from Angelo State University, Howard Payne University, Lubbock Christian University, Sul Ross State University, Texas Tech University Health Science Center and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
  • Midland College offers five degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Arts in General Studies, Associate of Science in General Studies, and Associate of Applied Science. The Associate of Arts or the Associate of Science is chosen from a regular course of study. These degrees are primarily for the first two years of a four year degree. The Associate of Arts in General Studies or the Associate of Science in General Studies is selected when an individualized plan is needed. These degrees can also be used for the undecided major. The Associate of Applied Science is selected for a major in an occupational/technical field of study.
  • Midland College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award a Bachelor of Applied Technology degree, associate degrees and certificates.
