  • Technology Education College helps students reach their educational goals by providing them with the communication skills necessary to work successfully with clients and other professionals, by offering courses that prepare them to successfully participate in society, by equipping them with the knowledge necessary to succeed in a competitive job market and by encouraging them to become involved in professional organizations that will promote their learning and professional skills.
  • In August 1965, the Electronics Computer Programming Institute of Columbus was opened by Mr. Leonard Mermelin because of rapid growth in the computer programming field. Mr. Mermelin operated the College until 1972. The College name also changed to Technology Education College (TEC) to better reflect those offerings. In January 2002, TEC was purchased by Quest Education Corporation. Quest was purchased in July 2002 by Kaplan, Inc. In December 2002, Quest changed its name to Kaplan Higher Education Corporation. In September 2003, TEC moved to a new facility at 2745 Winchester Pike. Kaplan is dedicated to continuing the same excellent education for which TEC is known.
  • The Technology Education College (TEC) facility is a one-level structure with air conditioning and zoned lighting throughout. The facility is equipped with three medical labs, one pharmacy tech lab and six computer labs, including one advanced lab. The College has six theory classrooms to support the general education classes. TEC has a library, student break room and a fenced-in outdoor courtyard. The building is approximately 24,000 square feet.
  • The College offers program in Criminal Justice and Medical Assisting. The objective of the Criminal Justice program is to prepare students with the knowledge, the skills and the work habits required for entry-level positions in a variety of positions in the criminal justice field. This Associate degree offers a level of education that provides students with a solid foundation in criminal justice, and the skills of various specialized employment areas such as law enforcement, corrections and private security. The objective of the Medical Assisting program is to prepare students for entry–level positions in the medical field. The educational emphasis is placed on understanding medical terminology, body systems and clinical procedures. These skills will enable students to perform entry–level positions in both front offices and clinical settings.
