School Notes:
- Morton College has made a considerable difference in the lives of thousands since opening in 1924. Morton was founded as a public junior college to further the higher education aspirations of students from Berwyn, Cicero, Forest View, Lyons, McCook, Stickney and other near western suburbs.
- Morton College was governed by the Morton High School Board of Trustees until voters formed an independent community college district in 1967. The current Morton College facility at 38th Street and Pershing Road in Cicero opened in 1975. The College acquired 12.5 acres of land adjacent to the campus' eastern boundary in November of 1994.
- The faculty and staff at Morton College believe that excellent customer service involves showing the students respect and providing accurate information. They show their commitment to the students by going "the extra mile" so they leave with the information they need.
- The Jedlicka Performing Arts Center seats 350 people and is used for all performances of the theatre and music departments, as well as for large group lectures and many community events. The Henry J. Vais Gymnasium is well-equipped and capable of accommodating up to 1,000 spectators. It also has a fitness center and a multipurpose loft.
