    As a volunteer at Mt. San Jacinto College Art Gallery, Ann Logan-Kenner has seen quite a few exhibits. Starting Saturday, she will see her own art displayed at the gallery. "It will be very nice to share my work with other people who appreciate art," said Logan-Kenner, 77, of Hemet. Logan-Kenner is one of 13 artists whose artwork will be featured at the gallery's 2010 Art Associates Show.

    A musician for the U.S. Army , Jeff Adams has played for audiences from all over the country. On Saturday and Sunday, he will be playing at Mt. San Jacinto College for people from his hometown. Adams, 42, is a trombone player and vocalist for the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, a prestigious band based in Fort Meade, Md., outside of Washington.

    The Cal Baptist softball team improved to 13-0, defeating Cal State San Marcos, 12-1, and then beating Holy Names, 14-0, in the first day of the Ringor SoCal Smash on Friday. In the first game, Caty Reeves drove in four runs by going 3 for 3 with a double and a home run for Cal Baptist, which is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA.

    Award-winning poet Steve Kowit will do a reading at Mt. San Jacinto College's Menifee Valley campus on Thursday. Kowit has received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in poetry, two Pushcart prizes, the Tampa Review prize and several other awards, according to a college news release.

San Jacinto College's child development center on the San Jacinto campus has childcare openings for ages 18 months to 5 years old, but not yet eligible for kindergarten, according to a college news release. The center is open to the community. The center provides tuition assistance for income-eligible families.

    The sun is one of California's greatest assets and a new class at Mt. San Jacinto College will help students tap into it. The course, titled "Renewable Energy: Photovoltaic Employment Training," will teach students to design, build and install solar panel systems, said Mark Hedges, who will teach the class. Each student has a different reason for taking the class.

    Tiffany Smith had 22 points and 11 rebounds as Mt. San Jacinto College cruised past host Rio Hondo, 90-56, Wednesday night to remain in first place in the Foothill Conference women's basketball standings. The Eagles (21-4, 10-1 in conference) maintained a one-game lead on both San Bernardino Valley College and Antelope Valley College. Friday night, MSJC will play host to Antelope Valley.
