Fifty years ago, school students made a book brigade and moved books from the old Monessen Public Library on Fifth Street to the new facility. I sit here today pleasantly surprised and encouraged after attending the Monessen Community Planning Committee meeting, which was held at Douglas Education Center's Van Keulen Complex on Thursday, Feb. 26.
